About President
Management decisions in corporate operations are greatly influenced by the values of the manager and the personality and humanity that form the basis of those values.
In this article, we will ask two people who know Mr. Cheng well, the president of ARK Consulting, what kind of person he is. We hope you will learn more about ARK Consulting through the president’s personality.
Introduction of interviewee
Yu: She joined ABeam Consulting as a new graduate and engaged in ERP (mainly SAP) system implementation consulting. She then moved to KPMG Consulting and she was involved in a wide range of work from purchasing business reform to conceptualization and system implementation. In 2019, she founded the company with Representative Director Cheng and partners, mainly in charge of consulting business management and new business development. In 2023, she had completed the MBA at Waseda and launching and managing of group companies (Generation AI and XR).

Kitagawa: After graduating from Waseda University, he experienced many SAP implementation projects at Japanese boutique consulting firms and subsidiaries of major manufacturers, etc. He has extensive knowledge in SAP system implementation, from supporting implementation of logistics modules and BI to operation and maintenance. Currently, he is incharge of recruting for the company while participating in SAP implementation projects. (Photo right)
Tell us how you met Mr.Cheng
Yu: When I was at my previous employer, there was a community of Chinese residents in Japan, and that is where we first met. After that, we met each other at several events, such as trips and BBQs.
Kitagawa: I met him about 10 years ago in a project. At that time, Mr. Cheng was a newcomer and I was providing guidance as someone with SAP experience. Gradually, we began to get to know each other in our private lives, climbing mountains together, drinking, and so on.
What kind of president is Mr. Cheng from a Business point of view?
Yu: He has outstanding leadership skills. He is very logical, and is always a forward-looking creative thinker. This is also related to the company’s mission (* to nurture the next generation of leaders based on leadership, logical thinking, and creative thinking), and these are elements that I want our employees to develop as well.
Regarding leadership, I feel he is a leader that understands the talent that each person possesses, brings out the best in them, and leads the way.
Kitagawa: I remember being surprised at the speed of his growth. In the project where I met Mr. Cheng, even though he was a newcomer and with little knowledge of the business, but after a few months he became a trainer for other employees. I also impressed by the fact that he always thought about "how to make the people he works with enjoy their work" and he thought about how to motivate the members of the team.
Yu:Logical thinking is an element I think every consultant has. However, Mr.Cheng stands out in that skill because he is capable of collecting a huge amount of information and communicates that logically to his clients, which makes him solve problems with overwhelming speed.
Kitagawa:Yes, I agree.
Regarding the ability to think creatively, Mr. Cheng creativity outstands when he believes in possibilities and takes on challenges in uncharted areas that ordinary people would not do? When taking on a new challenge, it is easy for people to have negative feelings such as “What if I can’t do it?
But he faces those circumstances saying “What if this is fun?” which makes his positiveness shine.
Tell us about Mr.Cheng’s personality.
Kitagawa: I often climb mountains with Mr. Cheng, and at first he had never climbed a mountain at all. However, I felt that he had a very tough mentality, because even when he went to a very difficult mountain, he did not make any complaints, but rather took the stance that “I can do it”. I think he is probably working extremely hard behind the scenes to make himself tough.
Yu: I also think he has the idea of “living today without regrets”. I have heard that the basis of this idea is related to the concept of “Memento Mori”. I believe that because we live today with the thought of death that will come someday, we can live without regrets, always challenging ourselves, and focusing on what is enjoyable.
Kitagawa: Yes, that’s right. Another thing, which is a part of his personality, is that he has a strong spirit of forgiving others. When someone fails to do something, you say, “Why can’t you do it?”.
Instead, he sees the good things about people and try to develop them, even though things sometimes don’t go well. I have heard that he thinks “I want to be like the sun that shines on those around me in a way that is so casual that it goes unnoticed.” To be honest, while I had the impression that he was young, I also felt the strength of someone who can say such things so openly and openly as an adult.
