Running the company from the back office

Please tell me about your career history.

My previous role was in the entertainment industry, where I worked as a web director managing our company’s website operations. I handled a wide range of areas including celebrity news, entertainment updates, and music streaming, and also took on management responsibilities. Just as I was wrapping up that phase, ARK reached out to me. I was drawn to the unknown challenge of moving “from the business division to the back office.” While diving into a new field brought some anxiety, I thought, “This kind of opportunity won’t come again,” and decided to take the plunge and change jobs.

Please tell me about your current job responsibilities.

Currently serving as the head of the entire back office, I oversee a wide range of areas including human resources, accounting, labor relations, and general affairs. While managing member workloads and decision-making, my accounting duties primarily focus on budget management. As part of the administrative department, I feel a daily sense of responsibility and fulfillment in supporting the company’s foundation.

Could you please share what you find rewarding about your work?

When the entire team pools our wisdom to overcome new challenges and find solutions, it brings immense satisfaction. While many back-office members are new to the role, each one tackles tasks with a positive attitude. We often witness moments of growth, like hearing “You’ve really gotten the hang of it!” or “Let’s try this approach next time.” The very process of growing together as a team is truly enjoyable.

What were the challenges and benefits of switching careers from a different industry?

The entertainment industry was completely different in terms of culture, terminology, and how work was done. At first, I struggled to catch up, but I was amazed by the speed unique to a startup and the flat environment where I could interact directly with the president and executives. There were also many opportunities where my opinions and proposals were immediately reflected. I think the feeling that “we are building the company ourselves” is something unique to ARK.
